‘Tis Nearly the Season

0

Along with all the excitement of the festive holiday season comes the dreaded card swiping, cash swapping, present wrapping, horrors of all that money disappearing. It does help that the festivities put you in a very giving mood but what happens at the end of it, when all those credit card statements start arriving and you realize just how far (or not so far) that end of year bonus got you?

Hopefully there is still time to prepare for this cash flowing time of year – maybe mobile apps will be the heroes of the day and help you save up. Here are my top 3 money budgeting, tracking and saving apps:

Mint.com Personal Finance –  This particular app has won numerous awards, including Google Play’s “App of the Year”. You can link all your different accounts to this app as well as track all your spending, which it then gives you visual representations in the form of graphs and charts. It even sends you text or email alerts that notify you of upcoming bills, fees, low balances, unusual activity and more. This app is available for FREE with any Android phones and tablets.

Expense Tracker –  This app is very basic and easy to use. It works well on day to day spending and tracks from the basic small necessities (i.e. groceries) to bigger month to month expenses such as rent. This app is also FREE and available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

PriceCheck Price Comparison –  Our app works a bit differently to other finance related apps, but is here to help you save and make smarter buying decisions either way. Using the PriceCheck app before making a purchase can help you save, as well as inform you of exactly what it is you are buying. Our app is also FREE and is available on all smartphone systems.

One note of advice from my side is yes, the more you spend on an app the more access to certain features you can gain or just receive a better version of it, but when you are looking to save money – stick with what is free, besides, the best things in life are those 😉
