iTunes turns 10

iTunes is without a doubt one of the most disruptive innovations ever. The late Steve Jobs disrupted the music industry in North America by providing value for record labels. Remember, at the time Napster was providing file uploading and downloading services to users without any payment going to the creators of the content.

Jobs created a revenue stream for Apple to supplement the launch of the iPod, which at the time was going into a phase of intense growth. Little did Apple know how popular the iPod would become..

iTunes has created a wide range of business for Apple, from the AppleTV to gift cards, which customers can buy for loved ones. If one looks back over the last 10 years in which iTunes has been operational the question has to be – is iTunes the most disruptive part of Apple’s global arsenal?
