Apple unveils the 5S & 5C iPhone

0

Earlier this week Apple completely changed their product strategy for the iPhone. They have launched 2 versions of the updated iPhone 5 – called the 5S and 5C. The Apple iPhone 5C is a colourful addition to the Apple product line which leads to no announcement on new iPod’s (which was the norm in the past).

iPhone 5c features an all-new design crafted from a single, hard-coated polycarbonate body with a steel reinforced frame for a solid, sturdy feel. The steel frame holds the internal components and also doubles as the iPhone 5c’s multi-band antenna. The enclosure is one continuous and seamless structure that is finished with a hard coat for a durable and incredibly glossy surface. To complement the all-new iPhone 5c design, Apple created soft, matte, microfiber-lined cases in a very intentional contrast to the glossy, hard coat finish. These sleek silicone cases with unique circular patterns let splashes of color show through, and with five iPhone 5c colors and six cases to choose from, you can mix and match for dozens of fun combinations.

The Apple iPhone 5S is a powerful phone featuring a 64-bit A7 chip, all-new 8 megapixel iSight camera and also introduces Touch ID Fingerprint Sensor to the world. The iSight camera is clearly aimed at the point and shoot camera market in which Apple has never competed in. The images and image processing has made the need for A7 processor a necessity. The Finger print scanner is also an industry first and raises the opportunity for Apple to control in-app purchases.

The all-new A7 chip in the iPhone 5s brings 64-bit desktop-class architecture to a smartphone for the first time. With up to twice the CPU and graphics performance, almost everything you do on the iPhone 5s is faster and better than ever, from launching apps and editing photos to playing graphic-intensive games—all while delivering great battery life. Apple also engineered iOS 7 and all the built-in apps to maximize the performance of the A7 chip. iPhone 5s is the best mobile gaming device with access to hundreds of thousands of games from the App Store, the A7 chip’s 64-bit architecture and support for OpenGL ES version 3.0. iPhone 5s delivers incredibly rich and complex visual effects, previously only possible on Macs, PCs and gaming consoles.

The 2 different versions of the iPhone indicates a maturing product, not a bad sign for Apple shareholders. However – does this place Apple back into the conversation with Samsung?
