3D TV. Fad Or The Future Of Broadcasting?

0

I have been following the 3D LED TV market with interest over the past few months. The concept of 3D televisions is one that I think will become standard in years to come. Who does not want high resolution and detailed images on their TV? It does however have the potential to be a very expensive fad.

Samsung and Sony have invested millions of dollars into this technology and believe that the 3D experience is the future.  In Europe and the US, certain TV channels have a dedicated 3D channel for movies and sport.  At the moment only SKY and ESPN provide the service to their subscribers. They claim that the detail seen on the LCD TV, LED TV and Plasma TV’s are the most detailed ever seen. I wonder whether MultiChoice and TopTV are even considering the 3D avenue.

I see one major aesthetic problem that 3D televisions provide and that is the 3D glasses that are needed to view the content.  I admit that this is one uncool look and makes the 3D TV a problematic experience. I believe, the manufacturer that provides the first “non-glasses-wearing” TV will be very successful and could really cash in on that fact.  So Sony, Samsung and LG, the race is on for your various research and development centres to create these TV’s..
