BlackBerry Unveil The Torch 9810 & 9860

BlackBerry unveiled their latest challengers to the iPhone yesterday in Toronto. The current range of BlackBerry products has not got the world on fire in terms of sales. RIM is facing the biggest challenge since their arrival as a cellphone manufacturer. The sales numbers in North America and Europe have not been inspiring. The importance of these new products  have big implications for RIMs future. In South Africa though, they are arguably the most popular cellphone manufacturers.  The BlackBerry Torch (disclaimer: I own one) has been a hit and has given me hope for BlackBerry. The Technological Chameleon

Research In Motion (RIM) in my opinion is currently a technological chameleon. It does not know whether it is an enterprise juggernaut or a consumer electronics manufacturer. It seems the company is struggling with their identity and are on a bit of a downward spiral. I must confess I am surprised that the RIM shareholders have given their blessing to having 2 co-CEO’s. Is BlackBerry 6 the answer to the previous software versions? Is the camera capable of providing decent photos? To answer all the questions, I just have to reflect on my journey with the Torch. Initially the phone felt big but after 2 weeks I...

BlackBerry Torch – A Slider Smart Phone

BlackBerry has increased its smart phone line with the new Torch 9800. Between the increasing popularity of the Android operating software and the iPhone, market share for BlackBerry devices worldwide has seen a downward movement. The current situation with the BlackBerry services in the Middle East and the possibility that more nations will block their services, it seems that BlackBerry needs a highlight. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is an interesting concept. A smartphone that is a slider and it features both a touch interface and a keyboard. I believe that this could either be a massive hit due to...
