Social media giant revealed their stats over the fourth quarter of 2016, and needless to say the numbers were big. Facebook is currently the most widely used social media platform outperforming both Youtube and Twitter.

 

Facebook had their best quarter yet with reports of over 1.8 billion users logging onto the service over the festive season

 

 

Facebook’s revenue over the last quarter of 2016 reached $8.8 billion, well over the estimate of $8.5 billion given by industry analysts. Of their total revenue Facebook managed to turn over $3.5 billion in profits, their highest profit margin of 2016.

The Facebook Group as a whole, including Instagram and WhatsApp, saw a revenue growth of nearly 60% in 2016 over the revenue generated in 2015.

Of the total 1.8 billion users who logged on over Q4 2016, nearly 1.7 billion of those used mobile devices. This will surely play a big part in Facebook’s upcoming strategy which hopes grow the scope of video and virtual reality content on the social media platform.
