Dying Light

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

So, should you’re asking yourself: ‘should I buy Dying Light?’. The answer is another question: do you enjoy Rambo movies? George Romero-esque zombie flicks? The idea of drop kicking zombies into spikes? If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’, then you should be adding it to your cart without hesitation. The sequel is on the way too, so it’s the perfect time to pick up the first-person survival blockbuster.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

Mass Effect: Andromeda did get some bad press upon launch, but a lot of the bugs which spurred this have been ironed out thanks to updates, leaving a solid action action-RPG amongst the stars with storytelling that is, arguably, second to none. New toys, from a jetpack to a rock-climbing off-roading vehicle, will keep you glued to your seat for weeks. Improvements, including more fluid movement and combat, is a refreshing boost in pace, along with the ability to assign skills to any type of playstyle, rather than having to pick a class from the get-go.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Available on: Xbox One | PS4 | PC

In The New Colossus, players once again jump into the Nazi-blood-stained boots of BJ Blazkowicz as he wakes up from a coma to find the good ole US of A under full Nazi occupation. He has to (once again) take up arms against those pesky Swastika-donning extremists, but of course, you have a whole lot of bonkers guns to help you with the job at hand. The game is every bit the challenging, over-indulgent Nazi-shooter you want it to be, but it’s also not as brash and blunt as it initially looks, providing a relatable, human story alongside its spray of bullets and blood. A must-play for first-person shooter fans.

Batman: Arkham Knight

Available on: Xbox One | PS4 | PC

Much like Christopher Nolan having to achieve expectations and bring a climactic close to his Dark Knight film trilogy, developer Rocksteady had a massive task at hand to send the Arkham trilogy off with a bang. The result is Arkham Knight, which features everything we love about the franchise, peppered with some new elements to mix up the bad-guy beatdown sessions a bit more; and Rocksteady’s final game for the franchise did the caped crusader proud.

THE EVIL WITHIN 2

Available on: Xbox One, PS4, PC

One of the most overlooked horror sequels this generation, The Evil Within 2 is a follow-up expands on the somewhat linear, survival-horror formula by throwing players into bigger environments and trickier enemies, while refining the stuff controls from the first game. The story is a bit all over the place (as is with most of Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s games), but it does manage to come together when things start wrapping up. For fans of Resident Evil 4Dead Space or The Last of Us, this is a great addition to your nightmare fuel.
