After a somewhat quiet start to the year, March is ready to bring the heat in terms of gaming releases, with everything from long-awaited sequels to must-play remasters arriving this month!

Far Cry 5

Release date: 27 March 2018 (Xbox One | PS4 |PC)

The Far Cry series has a beloved spot with gamers at this point, but the franchise detours away from the trademark tropical islands and exotic foreign locations for a shoot-’em-up tale in middle America. Taking place in Montana, players need to use their tact and skills to chip away at a religious cult’s maniacal plans, while inciting a resistance from the locals who will help you on your missions. Of course, in typical Far Cry style, you will have access to a ton of vehicles and countless ways to dispatch of your enemies.

Extinction

Release date: 31 March 2018 (Xbox One | PS4 |PC)

If you’re looking for a David & Goliath-esque experience this month, look no further than Extinction. Coming from Killer Instinct studio Iron Galaxy, Extinction throws you into the boots of one of the world’s last Sentinels, as you must defend humanity’s cities from rampaging, 10-storey-tall ogres and the armies that trail in their wake. You’ll have to chop the ogres down to size (literally) by removing their armour and limbs to expose their weak points. It looks like a great combination between a colourful hack-‘n-slash and Shadow of the Colossus, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

Sea of Thieves

Release date: 20 March 2018 (Xbox One|PC)

Treasure-hunting and battling rival pirates is always an enjoyable activity, and the upcoming Sea of Thieves lets you do that with your friends! It’s an open world multiplayer game which involves exploration, sailing, naval combat and working as a five-man pirate team to dominate the seas. Sea of Thieves looks to be aiming to capture those Fortnite and Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds players, but who are looking for a little more to do.

A Way Out

Release date: 23 March 2018 (Xbox One | PS4 | PC)

A Way Out is easily one of the most unique and exciting games arriving in 2018, pushing the element of co-operation and teamwork to new levels. Coming from EA, the narrative-driven adventure game is a co-op-only experience where you play one of two men (your buddy taking on the role of the other protagonist) who team-up in order to break out of a maximum security prison. We’ve seen co-op games that allow players to simply play alongside one another, but A Way Out forces you to work together to coordinate and strategise in order to plan the ultimate escape; and we like the sound of that!

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Remastered

Release date: 20 March 2018 (Xbox One | PS4 | PC)

While the latest instalment in the much-loved AC franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, is a brilliant entry into the series (seriously, it’s really good), one of the most underrated games of the bunch, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, is arriving on Xbox One and PS4 this month. Originally released in 2014 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC only, Assassin’s Creed: Rogue offered a unique spin on the whole AC story, putting players in the boots of a Templar on the hunt for assassins. It was a surprisingly polished and enjoyable AC adventure, but was sadly overlooked due to people’s attentions being on Assassin’s Creed: Unity at the time.
