Cooking Tips For Your First Christmas Dinner

0

Christmas dinner is one of the biggest meals of the year, as your family and friends gather round to celebrate the season with an awesome meal. If you’ve taken it upon yourself to cook Christmas dinner for the first time this year, don’t panic!

Here are a few tips for cooking your first Christmas dinner.

Cook what you know

If this is your first time cooking a Christmas dinner don’t attempt a dish you’ve never done before. Traditional Christmas food, such as Turkey, often take a long time to prepare and are also tricky to make. For your first time it’s better to stick with what you know or to get someone to lend a hand.

Cook ahead of time

Christmas dinners are big, with multiple meat, vegetable and dessert dishes, so don’t try and cook everything in a single cooking session. Some Christmas dishes like stuffing or Brussel sprouts can be made the day before and simply re-heated before serving the meal.

Be flexible with your mealtime

Because this is your first time preparing Christmas dinner there are bound to be a few mistakes and setbacks. Allow yourself more than enough time by being flexible. If you’re preparing dinner you can serve between 5pm-8pm, and if you’re doing a Christmas lunch then plan for 12pm-3pm.

Buy what you can’t make

If you don’t have the time or knowledge to make certain Christmas dishes don’t worry as many of them can be bought and ready to serve. Desserts such as mince pies or Christmas pudding can be difficult to prepare for first-timers, but luckily enough you’ll be able to pick up these from most grocery stores.
