Summer is just around the corner and that means long, hot days spent trying to keep cool and beat the heat.
We’ve got some easy tricks and tips that are guaranteed to keep you cool this summer
Ice Ice Baby. Ice works wonders in more ways that one when you need to cool off. Always make sure your freezer is well stocked with ice blocks that you can use to chill your drink, put ice into a bucket of water and soak your feet or wrap some ice up in a cloth and place on your forehead.
Cold Cooking. Stay away from casseroles and soup in the summertime and instead chow down on more chilled dishes. Salads, sandwiches and wraps are just a few tasty treats that that will keep your body temperature low, and won’t require you to stand at a hot oven to prepare.
Power Down. All electrical appliances generate heat, even when they are turned off. Turn off your lights, geyser and other small appliances during the day to keep your home chilled at night, then instead of lighting up your house with bulbs rather use candles.
Keep It Minty Fresh. Add some herbs or flowers such as lavender, cucumber, mint or roses to some ice-water and mix into a small travel-sized spray bottle to create a refreshing, cooling spray that you can use throughout the day.
Chill Your Sheets. This one might seem a little strange, but place your bed sheets in the fridge a few minutes before going to bed and you’ll ensure a chilled nights sleep. This tricks also works with wrapping a drink in a wet paper towel and placing it in the freezer for a few minutes to get it chilled in no time.
