5 Of Our Favourite Windows 10 Features

0

The one-year anniversary of Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system is just around the corner and we’re looking back at the 10th iteration of the world’s most popular OS.

Here are 5 of the features we consider to be the greatest that Windows 10 currently has to offer, and some that will be coming with the new August 2nd update.

The start menu

The Windows start menu has been an iconic part of the Microsoft OS since the beginning, but Windows 10 may just have the best one yet. Highly customisable while still being easy to use, we see the return of the loved Windows 7 full-screen start menu, but with all of the simplicity of the classic Windows start menu.

It’s free

While not strictly speaking a feature, you can’t argue that it’s one of the best parts of using Windows 10. Microsoft announced that as of July 29th the Windows 10 operating system will be free to upgrade for all Windows 8 and Windows 7 users.

Windows Ink

This one is something to look forward to when the new update is released. Windows Ink is a simple piece of software that allows you to utilise your stylus like never before. It will function as a central location to find any built-in or third party apps that function with your stylus, take notes and set reminders and also provides a sketchpad to release your creativity onto anytime.

Windows Cortana

This Windows 10 feature is the one that Microsoft is most proud of. A digital personal assistant, Cortana is Microsoft’s version of Siri or Google Now. Certana will respond to various voice commands, help you to access software and improve the performance of your PC and perform internet searches.

The Xbox app

Great news for Xbox gamers, you’ll now be able to access a whole bunch of new features included in Windows 10. The new Xbox app will come with the new Windows update, and will allow users to access their Xbox One, play across platforms and allow Windows to stream games directly from the Xbox One.
