Pokemon GO Officially Biggest Mobile Game In U.S History, Attracts More Users Than Twitter

Since it’s release no one has been able to escape the Pokemon GO hype. Players from all across the globe have been clamouring to catch em’ all, and now the newest instalment of the popular Nintendo franchise has started to set new records.

Just a week after it’s release Pokemon GO has become the biggest mobile game in U.S history, peaking at just under 21 million active users on it’s busiest day

Ever since it’s initial release about a week ago, the augmented reality game Pokemon GO has been beating other popular apps in terms of users. First, it beat the popular meet-up app Tinder but didn’t have any intention of stopping there.

On it’s busiest day, Pokemon GO attracted just less than 21 million users in the U.S, beating the previous record set by Candy Crush at just over 20 million users in a day. The app also rose to the top of the app store on it’s release day, earning it’s developer, Niantic, millions of dollars.

Not even social media was safe, as by the third day of it’s release Pokemon GO was estimated to be attracting more users than Twitter. The social media platform has around a 3.5% of daily active users, and as of last week Friday Pokemon GO was already attracting 3% daily active users, and that number is already thought to have surpassed Twitter’s 3.5%

So where will Pokemon GO be if it continues to amass more and more players? It looks entirely probable that it will beat Snapchat and Google Maps in terms of daily users. Given that Snapchat and Google Maps have an average user base of around 14 million per day, and Pokemon GO currently has 8 million, it doesn’t seem implausible that they couldn’t obtain more daily users in the coming months.
