Inspirational #Trendsetters

0

When I am asked about who I think is inspirational or who inspires me, I wonder if the person asking the question thinks I’m going to say “Oprah”. Yes, she is the queen of talk and she does inspire millions but there surely must be more inspirational people out there right?

Inspirational People:

Madiba, our former President, trending all over the world right now via Twitter and other social media platforms! But, as cliché as it sounds, he is definitely an inspiration and motivation to millions of people around the world and will continue to forever inspire.

Arthur Fry invented the Post-it note, do you have an inspiration for a possible BRILLIANT idea?

Do athletes inspire you? Let’s take the great game of tennis and possibly the biggest tournament in the sport Wimbledon as an example. There are so many players who have amazing stories about how they have made it to the top of their sport. Maria Sharapova moved the the USA as a 7 year old, not speaking a word of English and having to live without her mom for 2 years has made it to the very top of her profession and won Wimbledon as a 17 year old beating Serena Williams in 2004.

Would you be able to conceive of working your computer without a mouse?  Doug Engelbart, the man behind the mouse, passed away aged 88.

Another person who I personally find inspirational is a South African called Nic Haralambous. He was the CEO and co-founder of Motribe. He is also a journalist who works as head of mobile at Mail & Guardian. The reason why Nic inspires me is because although he was successful at what he did in the past, he had a passion for fashion and created a sock line called NicSocks. He didn’t let anyone tell him he could not make his idea work. Today, NicSocks are featured in well known magazines such as GQ and Men’s Health.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” –  Coco Chanel, the French designer

Inspirational Places:

Just like Elizabeth Gilbert in Eat, Pray, Love found inspiration in India, Indonesia and Italy I’m sure that there must be a place or places that inspire you? Cape Town and the wine route is a place to definitely get inspired by the landscape.

“It’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than to be absolutely boring” – Marilyn Monroe
