Test Drive Unlimited 2

0

Can you remember how full of pixels PC games were in 90s? There was almost no serious graphic development done and the games had very simple graphics. My love affair with motorsport based games started with Test Drive. I remember having to take the floppy disks out and replacing it with another one in order to continue playing the game. It was hours full of fun and frustration. Old school gaming was totally different from console gaming of today.

Fast forward 20 years and video games have evolved into life like reproductions of our lives. The amount of detail which are now found in video games are breathtaking. The sounds and sights that gamers experience is sometimes so life like, that it feels like déjà vu. So when I started seeing trailers for Test Drive Ultimate 2, all the memories started flooding back of the start of my gaming journey.
Test Drive Ultimate 2 claim to be about customization of the character you play and not of the vehicles. It immerses players in a persistent online environment where they compete, team up, and share their achievements and creations online.  It will be available for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, which shows how the gaming landscape has changed.

According to the developers, Atari this version will transform the interactive nature to another level.

The first Test Drive Unlimited innovated the racing genre with an immersive online and offline experience – over 1 million players created online accounts.  Test Drive Unlimited 2 blends the single player and multiplayer experiences seamlessly, creating a dynamic world of unique content and challenges.  Test Drive Unlimited 2 is “always live,” with automatic updates and seamless online/offline integration.  A revamped single player narrative mode can be played offline or as part of the multiplayer experience.

This has the potential to shake the entire industry into a spin. Maybe Atari have a money making idea that no one has done properly yet? I cannot wait for my copy to arrive.
