I have had the unfortunate luck of losing my cellphone once and it sucked big time. Suddenly all of your data that was on your simcard (which we take for granted by the way) is gone. Your contact list, sms’s and emails are all no longer yours. I made a promise then that I would look after my phone and help others from not suffering the cellphone fail like I did.

There are certain technology companies that one needs to keep an eye on. IBM, Dell, Sun Microsystems, Google, HP and lately Apple are in this group that has select membership. They either have a history of immense success in a short space of time that leads to an era of domination or consistently reinventing themselves to stay relevant. South Africa at the moment has a small fixed line Internet market. A large portion of users rather use a cellphone to connect to Internet services. mXit and facebook for example get more users from mobile phones than from fixed line Internet users in my opinion. It is an estimate but I believe it is the case at the moment. So eReaders and eBooks are for the early adopters in our country. A small amount in comparison to the bigger markets found in America and Europe.

The worst kept secret in the mobile industry was confirmed yesterday when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone 4. The phone was very similar to the leaked versions seen on various blogs in the last 4 weeks. The build quality is extraordinary and what makes Apple the company so loved by their users. The Apple iPhone 4 features a new design and is the thinnest smartphone ever made. The phone consists out of Stainless steel for strength and features a glass cover for optical quality which is scratch resistant.
