Smoking: The Good, The Bad & The Benefits Of Quitting

The Cancer Association states that 25000 people die annually from smoking related causes in South Africa alone. Although there have been a number of precautionary measures taken to lessen the dangerous consequences of smoking in SA, it’s still a difficult habit to kick. Whether you are at a social gathering or bored with nothing to do, lighting up a cigarette seems obvious to a smoker. It makes sense. It’s a way to socialise & feel accepted; helping one cope with stress or anxiety as it has a numbing effect on the brain, and keeps weight at bay. I bet smokers could present more excuses to...

Michael Lewis – An Author Of Note

Writing a book is a difficult task. Writing a best seller once can be seen as something of a fluke but doing it with 3 books does imply that the author has considerable skill. My opinion on authors is that the best are great story tellers and can catch the attention of the reader. No matter the topic, genre etc certain authors can do it continuously. The less popular authors have the ability to make a reader put down their work within 20 pages. It is a fine line but one that needs examination prior to buying any published authors work. His first book called Liar’s Poker is a written account of...

Buying A Car

Motor cars have always been a contentious issue. Should they be large and luxurious or economic and small? I wish I could answer that but the best case scenario is that the road user has multiple choices. eReaders & eBooks In South Africa

South Africa at the moment has a small fixed line Internet market. A large portion of users rather use a cellphone to connect to Internet services. mXit and facebook for example get more users from mobile phones than from fixed line Internet users in my opinion. It is an estimate but I believe it is the case at the moment. So eReaders and eBooks are for the early adopters in our country. A small amount in comparison to the bigger markets found in America and Europe. At the moment there are only 2 options. It is either buy an Apple iPad or an Amazon Kindle to be able to enjoy eBooks. Sony , Barnes and...

Celebrate Father’s Day

Sunday is Father’s day in South Africa. We celebrate the impact that fathers have had in society and fatherhood. Fathers in my opinion seem to be less celebrated than mothers but both play an important role in our community. It is a “thank you” for all the lifts he has given you, fixed your bicycle or watching you play sport. So what can you get as a present for your father? A GPS would be a great idea as it can help him save money by driving the shortest distance between 2 places. He also will never be lost as he can then search on his GPS for directions and information. If...
