Tough and Stylish: The New Mahindra TUV300 2020 Arrives in SA

Mahindra’s TUV300 has just landed in South Africa. Known for its head-turning looks, this much-loved vehicle is now even bolder thanks to exciting mid-life design and specification upgrades. A new breed of SUV from Mahindra, this new model is now available at Mahindra dealers across South Africa. Here’s a look at what you can expect from this exciting upgrade.

2020 calls for a new look

The latest model of the TUV300 features a dramatically updated front-end design with a new-look five-slot black and chrome grille, carbon-black front headlamps, and new lower front bumper featuring two squared-off fog lamps as standard. Moving to the side of the vehicle, the dark motif is repeated on the sides, where the TUV300 now has muscular black side cladding between the squared-off wheel arches.

At the rear, the SUV has a redesigned rear light cluster as well as a new-look rear-mounted spare wheel cover and a sporty rear spoiler as standard. Other features, such as the high-mounted stop lamp, alloy wheels, electrically adjusted and colour coded rear-view mirrors and high ground clearance remain standard. Inside, the TUV300, the rugged interior theme remains, with a few new touches to delight TUV300 fans.

Among the long list of standard features with this rugged looker, are power steering with steering mounted controls, a Bluetooth-enabled infotainment system, electric windows, air conditioning, height adjustment for the front driver seat, rear-mounted Intellipark parking assistance and electric windows.

In addition to the luxury features, safety is taken care of with dual front airbags, a proprietary hydro-formed safety cell with impact-absorbing channels and side-impact bars as well as ABS brakes with Cornering Brake Control (CBC) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). Built to be tough and durable, the TUV300 offers seating for seven occupants, rear-wheel drive and a tough ladder frame chassis.

Under the hood

Under the hood you’ll find Mahindra’s 1.5 mHawk turbo-diesel engine with dual-stage turbocharging and common rail direct injection for 73.5 kW of power at 3 750 rpm, controlled through the manual five-speed gearbox.

With all of the above features included as standard, the only choice left to is to pick a colour you love. The new TUV300 is available in four colours at launch, namely Lava Red, Diamond White, De Sat Silver and Sunset Orange. It is initially only available in the top specification T8 model at R254,999.
